Damian Lillard and his wife Kay’La are calling it quits.
The NBA star filed for divorce from Kay’La of just two years on October 2nd. The pair have been together since their days at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, and share three children. Lillard cited “irreconcilable differences” that led to the “irremediable breakdown of their marriage.”
It seems the two were happy in love, with Lillard telling Ebony in 2021 that Kay’La held him down during their college years. He proposed the year prior during the NBA’s All-Star weekend in Chicago.
“She had the car, an apartment and bent over backward for me. Kay’La accepted me with all my flaws as a young man,” Lillard shared with the outlet. Unfortunately, it seems the love was not enough to keep the marriage going.
Kay’La and Lillard have reportedly been separated for at least ten months. Kay’La is now residing in a new $2.7 million home in West Linn. Lillard has continued to live in their $7.7 million marital home not far from where she lives. Though a sad turn of events, fans have noticed that there have been no recent photos of Kay’La on Lillard’s social media platforms. However, he did wish Kay’La a Happy Mother’s Day back in May, TMZ reports.
Aside from Lillard’s marriage woes, he is embarking on a fresh journey with the Milwaukee Bucks. He shared a photograph alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo sporting their new jerseys with the caption, “New Beginnings.”
