Nebraska police have located the body of 48-year-old Amber Tjaden, the daughter of former Omaha, Nebraska, Mayor Jim Suttle, after she was reported missing on Jan. 27.
Tjaden’s body was found nearby her black 2019 Jaguar F-Pace SUV “on an unplowed road in rural Otoe County,” New York Post reports.
“They have found a car, and they have found a person which we believe is going to turn out to be Amber,” Jim Suttle told KMTV, a local CBS affiliate.
Tjaden’s adult daughter Savannah Suttle reported her mother missing after she argued with her husband, Matthew Tjaden, reports say.
Two days later, Matthew Tjaden was arrested on child neglect charges and suspicion of flight to avoid arrest. On Monday, he posted bail and has since cooperated with authorities, Omaha World-Herald mentioned.
According to reports, Amber had filed several protection orders against her husband in 2015, citing “paranoid behavior, punching walls, and threatening to kill her and her father.”
However, each order was later dismissed.
Before her death, Amber worked as a community college teacher and administrator. She also was a resident of Weeping Water in Cass County.
“She loved teaching and helping shape the lives of young people; she loved to make a difference,” Suttle posted on Facebook on Saturday.
“All of the social media attention is what helped get her car identified and get her found,” the post read. “Remember this the next time you see a post for a missing person – spreading the word as much as possible really does help.”
