Desiigner‘s attorney denies the allegations surrounding his recent legal troubles.
Desiigner was recently sentenced for an indecent exposure incident that took place during a flight in April. Reports stated the rapper was directed to comply with the provisions of California’s Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. Furthermore, he has been mandated to observe a probationary period lasting two years.
According to Desiigner’s attorney, Ryan Garry, this may not necessarily be true. However, according to Desiigner’s attorney Ryan Garry, this may not be entirely accurate. Garry has stated that Desiigner might not be required to register as a sex offender, unless the state mandates it.
“Regarding the issue of Mr. Selby registering as a sex offender, many news outlets have incorrectly stated that he is required to register as an absolute condition of his probation. They are wrong,” Garry said. “Since this was a federal misdemeanor. The sentencing judgment states that if the State of California or some other government entity requires that Mr. Selby must register as a sex offender, then he must.”
He added, “However, the parties in this case have come to the legal conclusion, after significant research and consultation with lawyers in California, that this misdemeanor conviction is not one that will cause Mr. Selby to have to register as a sex offender. If some government agency in California disagrees with our analysis. Then we will address the matter at that point in time.”
During this interim period, the rapper is barred from possessing any firearms. He is also has to complete 120 hours of community service, undergo random drug testing, and participate in a psychiatric assessment. If the evaluation concludes that Desiigner necessitates comprehensive psychiatric treatment, he must comply with it without objection.
