After being charged in a multi-million dollar fraud scheme, a popular Detroit rapper is on the run.
Sameerah Marrel, popularly known as Creme Marrel, and fellow rapper Noelle Brown make up the rap duo Deuces Wild. However, the feds say these women were making their riches by defrauding the IRS through an elaborate tax fraud scheme that brought in over $5 million.
Both women were arrested last year after filing multiple fraudulent tax returns for estates and trusts set up under businesses filed between 2013 and 2017. Additionally, the women fraudulently submitted tax returns for trusts while assuming the identities of others without their knowledge. In July 2021, the duo was charged with aggravated identity theft, false claims, and conspiracy. They were released on bond as the case moved forward. However, following Marrel’s disappearance, her bond was revoked.
The last time Marrel communicated with the courts was on July 25th, 2022. She has even missed multiple appointments with her attorney. On September 25th, Marrel made contact with pretrial services. On September 28th, pretrial services called her back but did not speak with her. Text messages also went unanswered. Authorities tried to track her down on October 7th at a wig shop she claimed to work at. Once they arrived, they quickly realized that no business was operating at the business address. The owner of a building told officials that a person would come to the store every two months, but no wig shop was operating in the space.
Pretrial services eventually spoke with Marrel’s attorney, who told them she’d come in on October 19th. She did not show up for that appointment. Then, six days later, pretrial services turned up at her home, but an unknown man answered the door and wouldn’t provide information regarding Marrel’s whereabouts.
Brown remains free, awaiting trial. As of now, investigators are seeking information about Marrel’s whereabouts.
