Diddy is just days into serving his sentence at Fort Dix federal prison, and he’s already facing disciplinary action over a phone call that violated federal prison rules.
According to prison documents, Diddy made a prohibited three-way call on November 3. He initially spoke with a woman about visitation plans and asked for “200 singles” to be brought in, though there was no explanation on how he intended to use the money. Mid-call, Diddy requested to speak with someone referred to as “the digital person” about blogs. The woman then added an unknown male to the line.
That move broke prison protocol. Inmates can only speak to people approved on their call list and cannot use three-way calls due to security risks, including concerns over coordinating criminal activity or circumventing monitored lines.
Diddy claimed he was unaware of the rule and said he never received the inmate handbook or orientation. He also argued the call was for legal purposes.
“It was a procedural call initiated by one of his attorneys and was protected under attorney attorney-client privilege. There was nothing improper,” said his publicist, Juda Engelmayer.
Still, prison officials recommended that Diddy lose 90 days of both phone and commissary privileges. The violation report was filed on his 56th birthday, November 4.
Despite the trouble, Diddy has taken on a chapel job considered prestigious at Fort Dix. He assists the prison chaplain and manages the religious library.
“He describes the environment as warm, respectful, and rewarding,” Engelmayer added.
