Donald Trump Wants Washington Commanders’ New Stadium Named After Him

Donald Trump reportedly wants to see his name towering over the Washington Commanders’ next home, literally.

According to ESPN and multiple outlets, sources close to the White House claim Trump has expressed interest in having the Commanders’ new stadium in Washington, D.C. named after him.

The team’s planned $3.7 billion domed stadium will be built at the site of the old RFK Stadium, with hopes to open by 2030. Trump has publicly supported the return of the Commanders to D.C. and reportedly helped smooth federal negotiations tied to the land deal.

In return, insiders say Trump floated the idea of naming the stadium after himself, calling it a “fitting recognition” of his contributions. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt didn’t deny the reports, saying it would be “a beautiful name.”

The Commanders’ ownership group, led by Josh Harris, hasn’t commented on the claim. Typically, stadium naming rights are reserved for corporate sponsors, and any naming decision in D.C. would require approval from the city and the National Park Service.

So while the “Trump Stadium” dream might sound on brand for Trump, it’s far from official.
