A day after testing positive for the coronavirus, reports are surfacing that Utah Jazz player #DonavanMitchell is frustrated with teammate #RudyGobert for putting him at risk.
A few days ago, Gobert mocked the seriousness of the virus by touching microphones as he was exiting a press conference, only to test positive on Wednesday for COVID-19.
While Gobert has since apologized for his carelessness, according to Sport’s Illustrated’s Chris Mannix, Mitchell is still upset about the whole situation.
“Mitchell is ‘extremely frustrated’ with Gobert,” sources in the league familiar with the situation revealed to Sports Illustrated. “In an Instagram post, Mitchell said of coronavirus ‘hopefully people can continue to educate themselves and realize that they need to behave responsibly both for their own health and for the well being of those around them,’” Mannix continued.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN made a similar statement following the diagnoses of the players.
“The Jazz are fortunate that they don’t have to get back together and start playing games again right now,” Wojnarowski said in an interview with Sports Center. “There is a lot of work to do to repair relationships. …There’s a lot of frustration with Gobert.”
The NBA is currently suspended indefinitely following the announcement of Gobert’s diagnosis.
