Ellen DeGeneres is standing by Rosie O’ Donnell in her political feud with Donald Trump.
“Good for you, Rosie,” DeGeneres posted to Instagram this weekend in a rare public comment. The talk show icon offered her support after O’Donnell became the latest target of a scathing message from Trump.
The drama kicked off after O’Donnell posted a TikTok video blasting the Trump administration’s handling of recent catastrophic floods in Texas. That criticism prompted Trump to reignite his decades-long feud with O’Donnell by writing on Truth Social that he was “giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship.”
“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,” Trump wrote. “She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
O’Donnell, who relocated to Ireland just before Trump’s 2017 inauguration, didn’t hesitate to respond. On Instagram, she posted: “You call me a threat to humanity, but I’m everything you fear: a loud woman, a queer woman, a mother who tells the truth, an American who got out of the country before you set it ablaze.”
“You want to revoke my citizenship?” she added. “I’m not yours to silence. I never was.”
Earlier this year, O’Donnell explained why she left the U.S., telling CNN, “I have no regrets. Not a day has gone by that I thought it was the wrong decision. I was welcomed with open arms.”
Now, with DeGeneres lending her voice in support, Rosie is getting backup from some powerful allies as the feud with Trump enters a new chapter.
