Faizon Love responds to Jay-Z addressing a comment made by the actor and says there are no hard feelings towards Hov.
In a recent interview with VladTV, Faizon admits that he initially did not realize Jay-Z was talking about him in his new song.
“I didn’t get it at first, ’cause it’s some rap thing, and it’s not clear,” Faizon says. “First of all I’m not a rapper. I have no bars, at all … I listened to it. He didn’t really diss me.”
The track in reference is Hov’s latest feature on Pusha-T’s “Neck & Wrist.” In one of the verses, Jay-Z seemingly addresses Faizon’s past comment accusing the rapper of lying about being a drug dealer in the past.
“The phase I’m on, love, I wouldn’t believe it either,” Hov raps. “I’d be like, ‘Jay-Z’s a cheater,’/I wouldn’t listen to reason either.”
Nevertheless, Faizon isn’t offended by Jay-Z’s lyrics and compares their situation to a game of tennis.
“Back at you, Love. We all love. It’s all love now, you know what I’m saying?” he says before adding, “I think I ruffled some feathers.”
Faizon made his comment about Hov back in 2020. During his VladTV interview, the comedian says rapper glorify a life of crime and calls out Jay-Z specifically. In the past, Jay-Z have been very vocal about his previous life of being a drug dealer, which Faizon said is a lie.
“When Jay-Z creates this whole ‘I’m a drug dealer, I’m a drug lord’ [persona], these kids say, ‘We gotta do it, too, to be like Jay-Z,’ he said. “Not knowing that this is all made up sh*t.”
