Over the weekend, Famous Dex posted videos and photos on Instagram that were extremely disturbing to the culture. Black community leaders immediately took Club House, a new invite-only social media platform. #SAVEFAMOUSDEX began to go viral shortly after.

The group chat at its highest point held over 500 listeners all focused on one common goal. It was saving a black man’s life before it is too late. Several celebrities joined in the meeting, including Yung Berg, Maclamore, Ugly God, Masika Kaleyshia, and Bimmy Antney.
In November, NLE Choppa called out 300 ENT for not intervening in Dex’s substance abuse trauma.
“I’ve never been the type to be in folks business but @300 y’all see @FamousDex obviously on drugs too heavy can y’all at least try surrounding that man around somebody with his best interest. Help dude out, or somebody who already is in his ear uplift dude he NEEDING it”. He said.
However, due to the negative stigma surrounding trauma and substance abuse, Dex grew defensive.

The topic of holding 300 ENT accountable resurfaced on Club House when Dex posted photos and videos of him clearly “faded.” Over 500 hundred listeners stood in solitary with Famous Dex and NLE Choppa. “Mental Health awareness isn’t something we learned growing up. We all want to help him,” Yung Berg said when a speaker bought the incident up in the chat.
Brother O.T.G leads the floor with a compelling message.
” This is about saving a black life. These record labels sign artists and leave them to die when they’re no longer valuable. We need to all band together to save this young man’s life before it’s too late”, He said.
Macklemore also chimed in to discuss his past struggle with substance abuse and to offer advice. “He’s going to need support. It’s something that you have to want and be strong enough to do,” he said. The first sign of relief came when it was reported in the chat that Dex posted a Facetime photo with NLE Choppa.

Moderators of the Chat later reported that Famous Dex has now checked into rehab. The Viral group chat is an example of how far black unity and power can go. The group filled with influential minds dove full fledge into topics regarding mental health awareness. If one of us falls, we all fall. During times of civil unrest, it was very refreshing to watch our culture to come together. The commitment to not be silenced and protect each other is a significant step towards progression.
