A fatal-attraction leaves a suspect shot and the potential victim alive to tell the story. A woman in Goodlettsville, TN ( an area near Nashville), had enough of her ex-boyfriend , Tony Joe Gunter, after he continually forced entry into her home. She had a restraining order filed against the 52 –year –old, in which Gunter violated three times.
The woman’s neighbors attested to seeing police come to the home for domestic violence reports, but it would be the discovery of Gunter’s lengthy criminal record that caused the woman to cut all ties.
According to the Nashville Metro Police documents , Gunter was told to leave and not comeback. Upset, Gunter allegedly told the woman, “I will kill you, you stupid c*nt”. Taking into consideration Gunter’s criminal history, compounded with the forced entries, the woman added additional security. She had already changed the locks twice.
On Tuesday, ADT came to the woman’s home to install a security system. While the technician was finishing up around 3 pm, she entered into her bedroom to retrieve her cell phone that was now gone. To her surprise, Gunter’s feet poked out from underneath the bed. Fearing for her life, she grabbed her gun and shot Gunter in the leg. Recovering her phone, she held Gunter there while the ADT technician called the police.
Gunter was arrested and is being charged with aggravated burglary in conjunction with charges for breaking his restraining order and stalking. Gunter admitted to breaking into the house and taking the phone to prevent the woman from calling for help. He is being held on $165,000 bond. The woman will not face any charges.
