Ed Waters, the father of newly drafted NBA Player Tremont Waters, was found dead Thursday night at a hotel in West Haven, Connecticut. WTNH’s Mario Boone was the first to report Waters had passed away. Boone said that the “circumstances of his death are unclear at this time.” However, police said Waters was found in a Super8 hotel by Wyndham along Kimberly Avenue following reports of an injured/ill person.
As a result, authorities are investigating Waters’ death as an untimely death, but have given little information surrounding the details, as it is considered an active case.
Tremont Waters is a native of New Haven, Connecticut, who played at LSU and signed a two-way contract with Boston-just last week. He’s been with the Celtics for the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and played in Thursday’s game against Memphis. It’s unknown whether he was aware of his father’s death at game time or whether he’s still with the team as of Friday morning.
The Celtics took Tremont Waters at No. 51 overall with their last pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Our condolences go out to the Waters family at this time.
