On Monday, a man was arrested near Florida State University’s campus in Tallahassee after trying to abduct two women in a 40-minute span.
According to FSUPD, the first incident was reported as an attempted sexual battery just after 7:30 AM near the Woodward Avenue Parking Garage and the Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science building.
FSUPD says the victim, a current FSU student, was walking to campus on Georgia Street when a man started following her.
The suspect then attempted to sexually assault the victim before she could fight him off and get away. The victim was able to notify the FSUPD of the incident.
It was reported that the suspect was described as a young black man with dreadlocks on top of his head, wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts with red stripes, according to an emergency notice issued by the university.
Police later identified the suspect as Travis Gibson, 38, who was not an FSU student and had no ties to the university.
Despite the circumstances, the FSU student is doing fine and has no significant injuries.
