Former NFL Player Brandon Browner Blames CTE For Attempted Murder Conviction, Asks To Enter New Plea

Former NFL Star Brandon Browner pled no contest in December to attempted murder for brutally beating his ex-girlfriend in front of her two children, and was later sentenced to 8 years in prison. But since then, Browner has ditched his old attorney for the famous #OJSimpson prosecutor, Chris Darden, and now, the two are asking for a new plea deal because “the old attorney didn’t realize Browner wasn’t mentally fit to cop a plea.”

According to TMZ Sports, Browner claims he’s been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD and wasn’t on his proper meds during his original hearing. In addition, a forensic psychologist believes Browner’s claims of inability to concentrate or focus could be the result of CTE caused by the numerous hits he sustained during his 11 year NFL career.

Darden is seeking to have Browner’s conviction thrown out and enter Browner into a new, presumably not guilty, plea to avoid the current 8-year sentence. A judge will make a decision in March.
