Jennifer Alejandra Insuasti, a former Walt Disney World employee, has been accused of embezzling over $160,000 from the company from March 2016 through July 2018.
The 32-year-old from Kissimmee, Florida, was employed as a guest experience services coordinator, which involved resolving guest complaints by offering cash refunds, free resort stays, or free tickets to the theme park. According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Insuasti allegedly deposited company funds into her personal bank account and the accounts of her loved ones, totaling more than $160,000. The FDLE confirmed that Disney provided financial records showing 41 fraudulent debit or credit card refunds and four fraudulent check refunds. While guests still received their refunds, the money was stolen directly from Walt Disney World.
It has also been confirmed that the family and friends who received the fraudulent funds from Insuasti are also under investigation. According to Orlando news station WESH 2, law enforcement has probable cause to prove seven other people committed conspiracy and grand theft.
Insuasti was arrested Monday and charged with one count of grand theft of $100,000 or more, a first-degree felony. As of Wednesday, she was still in custody, being in Osceola County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
