G-Eazy and Juicy J are being accused of jacking another artist’s song, and they’re going to have to fight it out in court.
According to TMZ, Memphis-based artists DJ Squeeky and Gaylon Love say they own the rights to “Looking 4 Da Chewin” and claim G-Eazy’s song “No Limit” sampled their 1993 Southern hip-hop classic.
The Memphis duo are claiming that G-Eazy never got permission to sample their track, so they’re suing for copyright infringement and are asking for their cut of the profits from the G-Eazy’s 2017 version.
G-Eazy’s song “No Limit” was the lead single from his fourth studio album “The Beautiful & The Damned,” the single featured Cardi B and A$AP Rocky, and had a remix that included French Montana, Belly and Juicy J.
DJ Squeeky and Gaylon are only suing G-Eazy and Juicy J, and according to the duo’s lawyer, Alcide Honore, this was a calculated decision. Honore told TMZ that G-Eazy is being sued because it’s his song, and Juicy J is getting hit because he is also from Memphis and is believed to be familiar with the popular Southern hip-hop track that was released in the early 1990s.
