Law enforcement finally closed in on Gervonta Davis after weeks of questions, pressure, and a warrant that had Miami authorities actively searching for the boxing star.

Davis is now in police custody following his arrest in Miami, nearly two weeks after officials issued a warrant connected to domestic violence allegations. A spokesperson for the Miami Gardens Police Department confirmed he was taken into custody on Wednesday, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.

On January 14, authorities announced the 31-year-old was wanted on three charges: battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping. The charges stem from an alleged incident at a Miami-area gentleman’s club in late October involving a woman who said she had been in an intimate relationship with Davis for five months.

According to the police report, the woman said Davis approached her around 4:15 a.m. while she was working. She told officers he “grabbed her by the back of her head, pulling her by the hair with one hand and by her throat with another.”

She further alleged Davis “forcefully escorted her” down a stairway and into a parking garage while maintaining his grip. Once there, she said he released her, allowing her to run back toward her coworkers for safety. She reported the incident to the police two days later.

Investigators stated a lead detective reviewed video footage that “corroborates key elements of the victim’s statements.”

The fallout has been both legal and professional. The woman filed a civil lawsuit against Davis on Halloween over the same incident.

The allegations also derailed Davis’ planned November fight with Jake Paul, which was called off by Paul and Most Valuable Promotions once the situation came to light. He was also stripped of his lightweight title by the World Boxing Association as the case unfolded.
