An announcer in an Oklahoma high school basketball game called players “f***ing n*****s” over a live mic because they were kneeling during the national anthem before a game this week.
According to TMZ, the incident happened as the Norman High School girls basketball team faced off against Midwest City during the Oklahoma 6A state basketball tournament on Thursday night.
When every player from Norman decided to kneel for the anthem’s duration, the announcer could be heard reacting with his racist outburst on the National Federation of State High School Association Network‘s official live stream.
“They’re kneeling? F***ing n*****s. I hope Norman gets their ass kicked. F*** them. I hope they lose. They’re gonna kneel like that?” the announcer said.
The Norman superintendent, Dr. Nick Migliorino, slammed the “racist and hateful” comments in a statement, “We condemn and will not tolerate the disgusting words and attitudes of these announcers,” he said.
Migliorino went on to say that Norman will be using a different live-streaming service for the remainder of the tournament, “as we have full confidence in their proven ability to respectfully support our student-athletes.”
