A few months ago, a woman by the name of Azia “Zola” Wells shared a highly entertaining story on Twitter involving her, her fellow stripper friend Jessica, Jessica’s boyfriend Jarrett, and Jessica’s violent Nigerian pimp “Z.” There was no shortage of excitement in her story and within minutes the “Zola” tale had gone viral.
The Twitter story was covered by multiple media outlets, including Rolling Stone who published a write up titled “Zola Tells All: The Real Story Behind the Greatest Stripper Saga Ever Tweeted” in November. Now James Franco plans to use Rolling Stone’s write up to direct a film on the infamous adventures of Zola.
The movie will be developed by Franco, Andrew Neel and Killer Films. Franco’s directing credits include “In Dubious Battle,” “As I Lay Dying” and the upcoming “The Disaster Artist.” He previously collaborated with Andrew Neel and Killer Films on the fraternity hazing drama “Goat,” starring Nick Jonas.
So I guess the next question is; who should play Zola, Jessica, Jarrett and Z?
