Fans have long called J. Cole the greatest rapper alive, and now the lyricist is standing on this title.

Cole delivered his first verse of the year on Benny the Butcher’s new single, “Johnny P’s Caddy.” On the track, which may be a top contender for Cole’s best verse, Cole let it be known that he is no other hip-hop act can hold a candle to him.

“On God, the best rapper alive/Headshot, now go and ask the best rappers that died/They tell you he never lied,” he raps on the record.

Following the two MCs dropping the bar-heavy record, Twitter praised Benny and Cole, who they reiterated was the best in the game.

As soon as Cole’s declaration started circulating on social media, Cole’s manager and Dreamville co-founder, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, also threw his two cents into the argument, tweeting, “I see no lies.”

This is not the first time the 37-year-old has crowned himself the greatest. However, it comes during a time when rap historians and fans are heavily debating which rappers are considered the GOAT.
