If Heisman winner and national champion Jameis Winston thought that the rape accusations were behind him, he couldn’t be more wrong. Although criminal charges against Jameis were dropped, the alleged victim intends to take him, FSU and the Tallahassee Police Department to civil court.
“I want heads to roll,” the woman’s attorney, Pat Carroll, told ABC News. “Absolutely you’re going to see a civil suit. You can not have law enforcement that is not held accountable.”
If you remember, the alleged rape charges were filed were filed on December 7, 2012 but shortly thereafter the investigation was closed. It was only reopened in November 2013 after the media got involved and began asking questions. Lack of evidence moved investigators to drop the charges. The alleged victim plans to sue Tallahassee Police Department, claiming negligence in the way it handled the case, which ultimately led prosecutors to drop it.
