Jay-Z’s Team Roc, the philanthropic arm of Roc Nation, has taken out full-page spreads in newspapers in support of George Floyd protests, according to Complex.
The spread includes a letter dedicated to Floyd, who was killed last week at the hands of Minneapolis police officers.
The letter includes an excerpt from Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech from the march in Selma, Alabama, in 1965 during the Civil Rights Movement.
“A man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right. A man dies when he refuses to stand up for justice. A man dies when he refuses to take a stand for that which is true,” MLK’s speech reads. “We’re going to stand up amid anything they can muster up, letting the world know that we are determined to be free!”
The letter appears in newspapers across the country, including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, according to Complex.
The letter has been signed by the Botham Jean Foundation, Sisters of the Movement, Antwon Rose’s mother Michelle Kenney, DJ Henry’s parents Danroy and Angella Henry, REFORM Alliance, and more.
