The Council of Fashion Designers of America honors Jennifer Lopez as the recipient of their 2019 Icon Award, for her influential impact on fashion.
Reigning as a queen in red-carpet fashion, Lopez has given the world legendary looks over the years. Since the beginning of her career, Lopez has proved that she isn’t afraid to experiment with her style.
CFDA Chairwoman, Diane von Furstenberg said, “Jennifer Lopez uses clothes as a way to express confidence and power. Both designers and fans look forward to her fashion statements.”
“Breaking the internet,” all eyes were on Lopez at the 2000 Grammy Awards when she arrived in the unforgettable jungle print Versace gown. According to Eric Schmidt, ex-chairman of Google, JLo’s iconic look played a major role in the creation of Google image search.
“At the time, it was the most popular search query we had ever seen,” said Schmidt.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America have honored celebs such as Beyonce, Rihanna, and Naomi Campbell, adding Lopez to the list this year.
“Jennifer Lopez’s style is bold, uninhibited, and always memorable,” said Steven Kolb, CEO, and president of the CFDA. “Designers, including many of our CFDA Members, love to dress her for both stage and private moments.”
