The unidentified woman who claimed that Alabama defensive lineman, Jonathan Taylor, assaulted her, has been arrested for lying to the police about the assault.
Remember just a few days ago the story about Jonathan Taylor and how his girlfriend had him arrested for injuries to her neck which resulted in him being dismissed from the team? Well the still- unnamed woman recanted her story regarding the incident which further led to her arrest. The accuser contacted the police Monday stating that she lied about certain details of Taylor destroying some of her apartment property and that he in fact did not harm her. The police department claims that Taylor’s charges will be looked over “at a later date.” (Whatever that means.) He was ultimately charged with third-degree assault and domestic violence and third-degree criminal mischief. The woman made bond but is being charged of false reporting to law enforcement.
That’s not all. Lt. Kip Hart of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit says there’s sometimes more to these stories. “With domestic violence issues, the victims will sometimes have second thoughts about what happened,” says Hart. He says that this could very well be a completely fabricated story but there’s a chance it’s not. Either way, Hart believes “something happened” due to the assessed property damage of the woman’s home and her visible injuries, giving police enough cause to make an arrest. “The charges that are against him right now still stand,” Hart said.
The media will likely look over this story if the allegations are false. So what does this mean for Jonathan Taylor? If found not guilty will Alabama issue an apology? Would they consider letting him back on the team? Or do his previous charges make him hard to accept again?
