As the fallout from Kanye West’s “Drink Champs” appearance continues, producer Just Blaze has responded to Ye’s claim that he copied his whole style.
During the episode, N.O.R.E. asked Ye whether he saw Swizz Beatz or Just Blaze as a superior. To which he replied, “Well, Swizz Beatz, definitely, because Just Blaze is a copycat, you know. He get credit for The Blueprint, and I did the first half of The Blueprint, and he just copied my half. I mean look—look where I’m at today and look where he at today. So that should show you…”
Just Blaze responded by posting a statement on social media calling the West’s tirade “unfortunate” and denied the accusations of copying.
“Well, that was unfortunate. I’m only addressing this publicly because it was stated publicly. I’m not here for the mudslinging; I’m just a bit confused and disappointed,” Blaze wrote.
“None of what was said tonight regarding me fits with any of our history or our previous interactions – particularly in light of very recent attempts to work together again,” he explained.
Just Blaze took the high road and wished his former Roc-A-Fella co-worker well.
“Everyone’s definition of personal success is a bit different. I’m quite happy where I am creatively, with my family, and my life in general. We were a part of history together, and I wish him well and continued success,” he added.
