On Monday, the artist formerly known as Kanye West debuted a new intricate hairstyle to go with his now less complicated government name.

‘Ye’ uploaded a photo of the back of his head on Instagram, which revealed a succession of seemingly random shaved areas, captioned with a Japanese Yen sign.

In the photo, Ye is seen wearing a silver shirt and a platinum chain with his son Saint’s name written in block letters. After several months of the rapper appearing in public wearing a range of high-fashion masks and full-facial coverings, the photo offered a rare view of West’s uncovered face.

This past weekend, the rapper played at a rare live solo concert at the wedding of Tiffany & Co. EVP Alexander Arnault and D’Estree founder Geraldine Guiotte in Venice, Italy, while wearing a grim-visaged black custom Balenciaga model mask.

As for the name change, West received formal approval from a Los Angeles court for his desire to legally change his name to merely “Ye.” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michelle Williams finally signed off on the new name less than two months after the rapper filed a petition requesting to change his name for “personal reasons.”
