The documentary has been in the making for the past two decades and is directed by filmmakers Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah (aka Coodie & Chike).
Netflix announced the first teaser trailer in September 2021. The film was delayed because it was going to premiere at the Sundance festival, however, the rise of Omicron canceled the in-person event. Now part one of the documentary will premiere virtually at the event.
The film follows Kanye West before he was deemed “Genius.” Some artists like Pharrell and Jay Z make an appearance in the documentary.
Variety says “Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy: is “an intimate and revealing portrait of Kanye West’s experience, showcasing both his formative days trying to break through and his life today as a global brand and artist.”
The full series will be available on Feb. 16 on Netflix. However, eager fans can catch part one on Feb. 10. Iconic Events Releasing and Time Studios will debut “Act 1 (Vision)” in theaters nationwide. The series dates back 2002 and covers life-changing events like the death of his mother, Donda West.
The doc will show the rapper transform from an artist, to business mogul, to a global brand.
