The Jackson family feud is ongoing, with Katherine Jackson firing back at her grandson, Bigi Jackson, formerly known as Blanket, who is trying to block her from using Michael Jackson’s estate funds to cover her legal bills.

In her court response on March 20th, 2024, Katherine suggested that the executors of her late son’s estate were extremely strict with giving her a small lump sum of money. Katherine is looking for the estate to cover at least $500,000 accumulated in lawyer fees in her disagreement with her grandchildren. To date, the estate is worth over $1 billion, a factor that Katherine believes should make her legal bill an easy decision.

“It seems clear to [Katherine] that the Executors are holding all of the assets in the Estate in order to keep control over them, and to avoid the more liberal distribution requirements of the Trust,” the matriarch’s newest filing states, later adding “This vastly exceeds its potential liabilities, and leaves hundreds of millions of dollars available for the remainder beneficiaries.”

Katherine and Bigi’s feud stemmed from an estate transaction. While Katherine’s newest documents didn’t specify the exact deal, PEOPLE suggested that it was Sony’s proposed $600 million purchase of Michael Jackson’s catalog. While Michael’s children Bigi, Prince, and Paris were on board with the sale, Katherine objected at some point. She filed an appeal, which has seemingly held up the process. The outlet confirms that the 93-year-old is not a beneficiary of Michael’s estate, though she is the sole beneficiary of a sub-trust in Michael’s will. This does not give her as much access to the estate as that of Michael’s children. Still, since Michael died in 2009, Katherine has reportedly received over $55 million, which Bigi argues is enough money to cover her own legal tab.
