Kimesha Monae Williams, the sister of NBA superstar Kawhi Leonard, is being held without bail in connection with an 84-year-old woman’s death in a Southern California casino bathroom.
According to The Press-Enterprise reports, Williams is being held without bail over an alleged attack that happened on Aug. 31. When Williams, 35, and another woman identified as Candace Tai Townsel, 39, allegedly followed 84-year-old Afaf Anis Assad into a bathroom at the Pechanga Resort Casino before breaking her skull and stealing her purse, which contained $800-$1,200 inside.
Another relative, Williams’ aunt, Denise Woodard, is said to have confirmed to the Press-Enterprise that Leonard and Williams are siblings but is quoted as saying, “He didn’t have anything to do with this.”
Williams was arrested on Sept. 3, and Assad passed away on Sept. 4.
Court documents show a Riverside County sheriff’s investigator is said to have cited the family’s “well off” financial status in asking a judge not to grant Williams bail.
Leonard, who signed a $103 million contract with the Clippers over the summer, was not mentioned in the investigator’s court filing and has not been accused of any crime.
Leonard’s sister, Williams, however, is being held without bail at Indio Correction Facility, the outlet reported.
