Kevin Gates went off on Instagram with one of the most unfiltered responses he’s posted in years as he clapped back at his estranged wife Dreka and the ongoing narrative around their breakup and family situation.
In the video he posted, Gates challenged Dreka to go on record and tell the truth about their relationship. He directly called out claims about an “Islamic marriage” and whether they were actually together legally or in a spiritual ceremony. He also vehemently denied being a deadbeat dad and said he’s taken care of his children and even supported Dreka financially while she was with someone else. Gates didn’t hold back calling Dreka “a goddess of manipulation and darkness.” He repeatedly challenged her to tell the truth in interviews and “get it off you.” He also accused her and her family of “stealing” from him and claimed that financial support was cut off only after the divorce push. He said he’s moved on and refuses to be manipulated anymore.
This comes as public attention has stayed heavy on the split between Gates and Dreka, who filed for divorce after nearly nine years of marriage. Court docs from last year show Dreka cited irreconcilable differences and sought joint custody of their kids and spousal support. The divorce filing listed their separation date as July 10, 2025, and marked the end of their decade-long relationship.
Their breakup was already in the spotlight because of overlapping buzz around Kevin’s brief union with social media personality Brittany Renner. Renner has publicly said she and Kevin married in an Islamic ceremony in April 2025 and separated in May 2025 — a 52-day marriage — and pointed to Islam’s 90-day reconciliation period.
Now, with Dreka officially pursuing divorce proceedings and public narratives about how Kevin has or hasn’t supported his family, Gates’ Instagram video is him fighting perceived misinformation and trying to control the conversation on his own terms.
Kevin’s social posts over the years have never been tame, but this one felt like a direct shot across the bow of everyone assuming he won’t care for his kids or that he’s down financially and personally. Whether or not the public side of this ends anytime soon, Kevin doubled down on his self-narrative: he says he loves his kids, handled his business, and is done being played.
