New information has emerged regarding Kris Boyd’s injuries following a terrifying New York shooting. The New York Jets cornerback is still recovering in a hospital after being shot early Sunday morning in Manhattan, and doctors have confirmed a bullet remains lodged in his lung.
The NYPD is now calling on the public to help identify the man captured in new surveillance footage connected to the case. The suspect was seen wearing a black cap, hoodie, pants, multicolored sneakers, and a black backpack.
Police responded to the shooting around 2 a.m. on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue. Boyd, 29, was shot in the abdomen and rushed to Bellevue Hospital. Initially listed in critical condition, city officials later confirmed he had stabilized.
The incident reportedly began outside Sei Less, a trendy Asian fusion spot popular with celebrities and athletes. Boyd told investigators there was a confrontation before shots rang out. Police are investigating whether it stemmed from an attempted robbery, possibly targeting his jewelry. Still, no official motive has been confirmed.
The NYPD has not made any arrests yet and continues to urge anyone with information to come forward. The newly released footage is seen as key to identifying the shooter.
Boyd, who signed with the Jets this year after stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals, was not previously known to be involved in any off-field controversies.
