Two nightclubs and an underground casino have been shut down by authorities.
This week, Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer shared that his team worked to bring down three illegally-ran businesses in the city. According to ABC 7, one of the businesses in Hollywood. Two of the businesses were illegal nightclubs, one being located at 800 El Centro Avenue next to Larchmont Charter School.
“No Angeleno should have to contend with the activity that we allege at this location: noise, an unlicensed club, a shooting, multiple guns found at the location,” said Feuer, who added that the owners of the nightclub are being hit with 12 charges.
Altogether, Feuer’s office filed 17 criminal charges against the three businesses.
“We actually received a crime stoppers tip about the club 800 El Central. That’s how we became aware initially of that location,” said LAPD Captain Yasir Gillani.
This all comes after the Los Angeles Police Department found gambling equipment, ammunition, and an LAPD informant was able to purchase methamphetamine. ABC 7 reports that the alleged underground casino was located on the second swap meet near the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Several people involved in the alleged crimes have been arrested.
“The operator faces six months in jail and $1,000 in penalties,” Feuer said.
