The Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa Pippen was in the hot seat at the reunion.
Many of her comments caused a lot of backlash– from her saying fellow castmate Dr. Nicole Martin didn’t have a real job even though she is an anesthesiologist to her saying her butt is natural, but her recent comment on her box braids caught a lot of attention.
“Watching the tease for the season, I noticed you were sporting braids in the Bahamas,” host Andy Cohen said, reading a question from a fan. “Fashion-wise, you can pull it off. But do you think it’s really culturally appropriate? I think you’re going to get a lot of backlash.”
Pippen didn’t believe she would get backlash since she’s “not white.” The Only Fans model’s parents are Lebanese and Syrian.
She responded, “I mean, I’m not white. So I don’t know — my mom used to wear braids.”
Many fans on social media accused Pippen of culturally appropriating Black women again. “My grandparents are Moroccan,” she said. “My mom had braids when she was a kid. I’ve been braiding my hair every time I’ve gone on vacation since I can remember. My honeymoon pictures, my hair was braided. When I was 18 years old, my hair was braided,” she continued.
The reality star confessed that her (mixed) children get their hair braided “every ten days,” therefore, it justifies Pippen getting her hair braided.
Pippen confessed she didn’t want to deal with her hair on the girls’ trip on the show. Housewife Guerdy Abraira, who is Haitian, clearly did not support her braids on the show.
