Celebrity stylist Law Roach is setting the record straight about his abrupt retirement, maintaining that neither Zendaya nor the Louis Vuitton fashion show is to blame.
Roach has been the topic of discussion since announcing his exit from the fashion industry. Many attributed it to the viral video of him seemingly not having a seat at the LV show next to longtime client Zendaya. In an interview with The Cut, he explained that he usually had a chair next to the Euphoria star, so he was confused when there was none. Nevertheless, he said it was simply a misunderstanding and was not upset with Zendaya or LV for the seating arrangement.
However, people still seem to believe that Roach leaving had something to do with a seat. During his retirement announcement on IG, Roach blamed “the politics, the lies, and false narratives” for his departure. On Tuesday, he took to Twitter to clear the air once and for all, claiming that he is actually taking a step back to deal with a death in his family.
“I retired because I got overwhelmed and that I’ve never got a chance to properly grieve a great loss,” he wrote.

While he didn’t elaborate on Twitter about the loss he’d experienced, Roach is referring to his three-year-old nephew Lamar Roach Jr. The toddler sadly passed away in November 2021 after falling out of a 17-story window in Chicago’s East Pilsen neighborhood. In another recent chat with the High Low podcast, Roach shared that he never properly mourned the child’s death in addition to being unhappy for a while. During that same interview, Roach said Zendaya supported his decision.
Hopefully, we will see the Legendary judge and his vision on the red carpet again in the future. Though, a break is certainly warranted when you’re one of the hardest-working people in fashion.
