A body, believed to be the son of Atlanta-based rapper Lil Jon, was pulled from a pond at a Milton park late Friday morning, according to police.
Authorities say the discovery happened just before noon at Mayfield Park, where a dive team from the Cherokee County Fire Department assisted in the recovery. The individual is believed to be 27-year-old Nathan Smith, who performed under the name DJ Young Slade. Officials stressed that formal identification is still pending confirmation from the Fulton County medical examiner’s office.
Smith had been reported missing earlier in the week. Police said he was last seen on Tuesday near Baldwin Drive and Mayfield Road, an area roughly 100 yards from the pond where the body was later found. That proximity has become a key point in the ongoing investigation.
Video from Atlanta News First’s First Alert Chopper showed a heavy presence at the park as crews worked the scene. Dozens of people were seen gathered nearby while divers searched the water.
At this time, investigators say there is no indication of foul play. Still, the case remains open as authorities wait for final identification and additional findings from the medical examiner.
In a public statement, the Milton Police Department addressed the loss and urged restraint as the family navigates this difficult time. No further details have been released. Police confirmed the investigation will continue as more information becomes available.
