As pop culture continues to celebrate the impact of women in Hip Hop, with the recent biopic “Roxanne Roxanne” on Netflix and the upcoming Salt-N-Pepa story coming to Lifetime. One woman who definitely needs to be celebrated is Brooklyn born rapper, Lil Kim.
Lil Kim recently sat down for an interview with Essence to promote the second season of the BET+ series “American Gangster: Trap Queens,” which she narrated and revealed that she is in discussions to make a movie about her life and rise to fame in Hip Hop.
“I have a secret, but I can’t tell you,” Kim tells the interviewer, “It’s dealing with me and my life a little bit, kinda.”
While she wouldn’t give any details, she did reveal that she wants her story told in documentary and biopic format, and she even knows exactly who she wants to play her: Teyana Taylor.
Kim also said she would love to give the opportunity to an unknown, especially someone with Brooklyn roots, but if it were to go to someone who is already established- Teyana is her choice.
“I love Teyana, she’s my only other thought. There’s nobody else in the industry at all but Teyana. But, even before Teyana — I love Teyana, but she’s from Harlem –before Teyana, I would love to give some little girls from Brooklyn a chance so I can connect. Really connect,” the rap icon said.
