A woman has been arrested in connection with the case of a missing Texas mother and her newborn baby.
On Thursday, police discovered the body of Heidi Broussard — the mother reported missing Dec. 12 along with her newborn daughter Margot who was found unharmed.
According to People, Magen Fieramusca, who is described as a close friend of the dead woman, was charged with two counts of kidnapping and one count of tampering with a corpse in connection with this case.
Fieramusca allegedly masterminded the abductions of both Broussard, 33, and her baby girl, who is just a few weeks old.
“She was supposedly Heidi’s friend for a long time,” says a family member of Broussard’s. “We’ve been knowing her for a long time.”
Another friend of the victim, Vickie Shreves, told PEOPLE she saw both Fieramusca and Broussard’s fiancé Shane Carey in the delivery room with Broussard when she delivered her baby girl in November.
Fieramusca claimed she had just given birth herself. Caress a Nolte, who appeared on a podcast called Jay 4 Justice, recalled that Fieramusca had gone to a birth center two weeks before and was breastfeeding an infant girl named Luna.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Details on Broussard’s death were not immediately made available.
It was also unclear what led police to Fieramusca’s Houston-area home Thursday evening, where the baby was found alive and unharmed.
A prosecution spokesperson said Broussard’s body was found in the trunk of a vehicle registered to Fieramusca.
DNA testing is being performed on the baby and the woman’s body to confirm they are the missing mother and child.
Fieramusca is being held on $600,000 bond, and prosecution sources told PEOPLE that murder charges against her are imminent.
