Last week, Nashville nurse Caitlyn Kaufman was shot dead in her SUV while driving to work on an interstate. The case, which initially had no leads, made headway on Friday when police finally arrested a suspect.
Devaunte L. Hill, 21, was taken into custody early Friday morning. The suspect was was arrested on Friday and was identified by a “concerned citizen.”
According to Tennessean, the arrest affidavit states that the concerned citizen told police about the gun and where the gun can be found that was used in the shooting.
Kaufman, who died at the scene, is remembered as being compassionate and kind.
A $65,000 reward was being offered for information leading to her killer, according to CNN.
“We are hopeful that justice for Caitlyn’s family will be served following the announcement that a suspect has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation,” Saint Thomas West Hospital, Kaufman’s job, said in a statement after learning of Hill being charged.
Devaunte Hill has been charged with criminal homicide.
