The “First Lady” of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is facing a whole new level of accusations as 2026 kicks off.

Mary Cosby and her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., are the center of a bombshell three-part TLC docuseries titled “The Cult of the Real Housewife,” which premiered on January 1.

The series pulls back the curtain on Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, featuring emotional testimony from ex-members who claim the organization operates more like a high-pressure business than a house of worship.

The documentary digs into the church’s transition from a beloved community pillar under Mary’s grandmother, Rosemary “Mama” Cosby, to what critics call a toxic environment under current leadership.

Mary’s cousin, Dan Cosby, and his wife, Kim, are among the loudest voices in the series, describing a culture where fear and public shaming were allegedly used to keep people in line. Dan didn’t hold back when describing the vibe inside the building, stating, “How he would do it, how he would use his form of authoritarian-style leadership and how he would talk to other brothers in the church … pitting them against me or against other members. I wasn’t the only one. There are others that left because they saw the writing on the wall.”

One of the most intense parts of the series focuses on the heavy financial demands placed on the congregation. Former members claim they were guilt-tripped into emptying their bank accounts, with some reportedly cashing out their 401(k)s or taking out massive loans to satisfy the church’s requests.

Cameron Williams, who fans might remember from earlier seasons of RHOSLC, is also highlighted for his claim that he handed over a $300,000 second mortgage to Mary.

According to Dan, it wasn’t just about the money, but the relentless psychological weight attached to it, “You were just afraid to leave. People were afraid of leaving. This is detrimental to people. It wasn’t necessarily what’s going to happen to you, but the pressure that you know you had to give more.”

The allegations go beyond just dollars and cents, as the series explores claims of physical and emotional mistreatment.

Kim Cosby described a “competitive” environment where putting anything, including family or cooking a meal, above the church leaders was seen as a sin. She shared, “If I said I’m going to go home and cook… then I’m putting him above God. It was always a competition.”

While Mary Cosby has famously brushed off “cult” accusations on Bravo as nothing more than gossip, this TLC investigation is making it much harder to ignore.

With Faith Temple recently reopening its doors to the public, these firsthand accounts are sparking fresh debates on whether Mary is an icon of style or the leader of a controversial empire.
