Matt Barnes has been suspended one game without pay for an incident during Thursday night’s matchup between the Memphis Grizzlies and Milwaukee Bucks.
According to a statement issued by the NBA, the discipline is in direct response to Barnes attempting to enter the Bucks’ locker room and “verbally challenging” John Henson.
The incident occurred in the final seconds of the game, after Henson blocked a shot attempt by Barnes. Henson stared Barnes down in celebration of the play and Barnes reacted. Both players were hit with technical fouls and Henson was ejected, as it was his 2nd of the game. Shortly after Henson exited the floor, Barnes followed him into the tunnel.
Milwaukee’s Greivis Vasquez was fined $15,000 for following Henson into the locker room after the incident. While Greg Monroe and Giannis Antetokounmpo were each fined $10,000 for their roles in the incident. Barnes’ suspension will take place during Saturday night’s matchup against the LA Clippers.
