Gunman Dances Over Body of Man He Shot; Claims He Was High on Shrooms When He Opened Fire on Miami Beach Tourists

A 22-year-old man told Miami Beach police he felt empowered from taking mushrooms as he shot two random people Tuesday evening, killing one and wounding the other.

Police said Tamarius David was high on mushrooms when he allegedly shot and killed a man sitting with his family in the outdoor section of La Cerveceria de Barrio on Ocean Drive near 14th Street.

After the shooting, an eyewitness told CBS Miami that David “was dancing on top of the guy.”

The 21-year-old victim who was fatally shot was hailed as a hero by his uncle, Michael Wakefield, who said his 21-year-old nephew, Dustin, was out dining with his family when the wild gunman approached.

Wakefield said Dustin stood in between David and his family to shield them and was shot at least three times.

Cops said eyewitnesses positively identified David as the shooter, who waived his constitutional rights and confessed to shooting at both people.

David told cops he was high on mushrooms, and they made him feel empowered. The man also admitted that he chose the two at random.
