Comedian Michael Blackson has something significant to be thankful for this year: he just became an official United States Citizen!
On Wednesday, the comedian announced that he was sworn in as a US citizen. He posted a copy of his green card to social media, explaining that he would have to turn it back into Immigration. He even joked that he would apply for welfare with his newfound citizenship.

TMZ caught up with Blackson, who said, “What’s better than a green card? Is a citizenship.”
He added, “It’s a privilege to become an American. Because American if full of opportunities.”
He acknowledges that while he cannot run for president, he is afforded other opportunities, such as running for mayor, being an HOA member, or even running for governor.
Blackson was born in Africa but immigrated to New Jersey when he was 13 years old.
