Ballerific Relationships: Michi Marshall, Kijafa Vick, Terricka Cromartie, and Sharelle Rosado Talk Marriage, Communication, and More

The ladies behind your favorite athletes sat down to talk about how they met their mates, marriage, and how important communication is within your relationship.

Michi Marshall and Sharelle Rosado are joined by Kijafa Vick and Terricka Cromartie on this week’s episode of I Am Woman, which is a spin-off of I Am Athlete.

Michi Marshall is married to Brandon Marshall, Kijafa Vick is married to Michael Vick, Terricka Cromartie is married to Antonio Cromartie, and Sharelle Rosado is engaged to Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson.

Kijafa and Sharelle discuss how they met their significant others. Kijafa tells the story of Mike chasing her for months before she accepted his date invite, similar to Terricka dishing about the lengths Antonio went to keep her in his life and the pop-up wedding. Michi describes her fairytale wedding to Brandon, and Kijafa says it was hard walking the line to share her magical day with the world and yet keeping it private from the naysayers. From fairytale weddings to marriage counseling, the ladies discuss all the ups and downs of being married to professional athletes. Sharelle, who was previously married, says the key is to find the balance in relationships and the importance of open communication from the start.

Many assume that the ladies behind your favorite athletes have it easy, but they open up and share the length it takes to keep their marriage together. Kijafa Vick shared that she and Mike go to counseling together and separately.

“I think it is so important. You have to go,” Kijafa shared. She also talked about how it is was his idea. Michi also shared that she and Brandon attend counseling as well, whether it is together or separately.

The ladies each opened up about the counseling helps their marriage and allows them to continue to grow, love each other more, and communicate with one another.

Michi shifted the conversation and asked the ladies,  “How do you keep the connection through the difficult times, and what do you do to bring it back to center?”

Kijafa started by saying, “You have to let go of your ego. Your pride, you have to put all of that to the side. Be vulnerable for your husband. You have to show him your innermost fears and let him know that this is where you want to be and this is where you want him to be.”

She continued, ” This is where communication comes. If he doesn’t know what you want or what you are lacking, how can he give you that?”

The ladies talk about how important it is to let your significant other know what it is that you want so that they can connect with one another. Whether it is emotions, affection, or just simply how to love each other, you must let each other know to keep the relationship growing and keeping it healthy.
