The mother of Drakeo, the Ruler’s five-year-old son, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Live Nation on behalf of their child.
According to Pitchfork, this suit comes less than a week after Drakeo’s family announced plans to file a similar claim against Live Nation.
The 28-year-old rapper was stabbed backstage during a music festival at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Drakeo’s mother Darrylene Corniel, told Rolling Stone that her son and his brother Ralfy the Plug were “swamped” by “like 40 to 60 people” backstage at the festival around the same time that rapper YG arrived. “Everything just happened so quickly,” she said. “They started trying to jump them.”
Drakeo’s son’s mother Tianna Purtue, filed the suit, which alleges the concert promoter was “completely knowledgeable of the potential dangers posed to both their guests and the performers they hired based on numerous past incidents of violence and death at their hip hop events.”
While the lawsuit asserts that “there is no evidence to indicate that YG had anything to do with the events,” it does suggest that Live Nation “should have known” about Drakeo’s “very public feud” with L.A. gang members.
