Cuffing Season is upon us!
As the temperature begins to drop, the extended deadline to submit new bae applications is rapidly approaching. While most dedicated cuffing season participants have already chosen their starting five for the fall, others are still sifting through applications, trying to find the perfect person to Netflix and chill with for the remainder of the year.
However, if new bae isn’t ready to be pressed by the streaming services with questions like, “Are you still watching,” as it judges your sexual acts, we’ve created a list of shows to binge-watch with bae until the time is right.
In most cases, when you start a series with your partner, it creates a special bond between you two. Girls love to be put on to new things by their beau. Now she’s initiating interaction, asking if you want to come by to watch that show you introduced her to. Next thing you know, ya’ll are Netflix and Chilling every off day. By the end of the series, you’re knocking boots.
But, on the other hand, if you’re riding the single wave for the time being, here are a few shows to check out if you haven’t already. If you have, re-watch them because they are that good!
On My Block – This teen drama premiered in 2018, and follows the stories of four teens in a rough inner-city Los Angeles neighborhood. The show explores themes of gang violence, sex, and high school drama, and focuses on how the diverse group of teens sustains their lifelong friendships through it all. Season one premiered in 2018, and the season premiered in 2019. In April, the show got renewed for a third season, but the release date has yet to be announced.
Dead To Me – Created by Liz Feldman, starring Christina Applegate, this series is not for the faint of heart. ‘Dead to Me’ is a tragicomedy that follows the life of a recently widowed, grieving woman who forms a powerful bond with a woman she met in grief therapy. Although their stories are different, they bond over their pain, until a dark secret causes a disturbing plot twist.
American Vandal – Do you enjoy documentaries, but also enjoy a good laugh. Well, ‘American Vandal’ is a little of both. Created by Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, the series is a mockumentary, which parodies docs like ‘Making a Murderer’ and ‘Serial.’ The first season follows the aftermath of a high school prank, and the second investigates a crime at a Catholic private high school. Now remember, this is a parody, so if you’re not into jokes about male private private parts or poop, then maybe you should skip this suggestion.
Atypical – If you’re interested in coming-of-age stories, ‘Atypical’ is perfect because it’s both funny and educational, regarding its depiction of autism. The show, which stars Keir Gilchrist and Michael Rapaport, follows an 18-year-old who is on the autism spectrum. The series premiered in 2017, and a third season has been scheduled to be released on November 1, 2019.
Breaking Bad – From 2008 – 2013, this has been a fan favorite. This show details the life of a high school chemistry teacher with lung cancer. Eventually, Walter White, alongside his former student, Jesse Pinkman, begin producing and selling drugs to provide for his family. Netflix is streaming the full five seasons, so if you haven’t already…get to it. If you have, watch it again.
The I-Land – ‘The I-Land’ is a new Netflix original that follows the story of 10 people, who wake up on an island with no memory of who they are or how they got there. However, as they try to investigate their predicament, they quickly discover that their new world is not exactly as it seems.

You – ‘You’ premiered on Lifetime in September 2018, but garnered widespread attention in December when it appeared on Netflix. Starring, ‘Gossip Girl’ star, Penn Badgley, the series is a psychological thriller that follows a Joe, a NY bookstore manager, who doubles as a serial killer. However, after falling in love with a customer, his attraction quickly turns into obsession. Although the series has been renewed for a season, the release date remains unclear, but it will be available on the streaming platform as a Netflix Original.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – Created by Tina Fey, ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ follows the life of a 29-year-old, who had been held captive in a doomsday cult for 15 years, as she adjusts to life after her release and rescue. This series premiered on Netflix in 2015 and released its final season on January 25, 2019. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Schmidt is set to return in 2020 with an interactive special.
Black Mirror – This British series is a little tough to get into, but once you get into it, it’s highly entertaining. Black Mirror is a series about how technology affects our everyday lives and how extreme things can be if we don’t regain control. Each episode is completely independent of the other, sort of like watching a modern-day Alfred Hitchcock story.

Stranger Things – Stranger Things is an award-winning fan favorite and with good reason. The science-fiction supernatural series is set in the ’80s and is reminiscent of the cult classic, ‘The Goonies.’ It will have you at the edge of your seat throughout every episode.
Honorable Mention –
The People Vs. OJ: American Crime Story – This series made headlines upon its premiere on FX in 2016, but for those of you who haven’t had a chance to see it, it’s available on Netflix for your viewing pleasure. ‘The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,’ is the first season of FX’s true crime anthology and follows the infamous O.J. murder case. The series received 22 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and won nine, which is more than any other show. If that wasn’t enough, it also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film.

All American – Although ‘All American’ airs on The CW, its first season is streaming now on Netflix. Created by April Blair, inspired by the life of pro baller, Spencer Paysinger, the show follows Spencer James, a star wide receiver at Crenshaw High School who transfers to Beverly Hills to play football. In addition to James’ transition, the show also explores themes of absentee fathers, gang violence, and more. Season two is currently airing weekly on The CW, so this is the perfect time to catch up on Netflix before season two is added.
