The first New Music Friday of Black History Month is a celebratory one, marked by new hits and a highly anticipated album that fans have been eagerly awaiting for years.
J. Cole has finally unveiled his project, “The Fall Off.” He initially teased the album in 2018 with the song “1985 (Intro to ‘The Fall Off’).” Since then, J. Cole has continuously shouted out the album, keeping fans on their toes without actually giving a release date until the start of 2026. Here at last, “The Fall Off” sports an impressive tracklist of 24 songs across two discs. The project features appearances from Future, Tems, Erykah Badu, Burna Boy, and more, positioning itself as one of Cole’s best works to date.
After a strong run of singles, Ella Mai has released her new album, “Do You Still Love Me.” Across 14 records, the U.K.-born star goes full R&B, with her previously released single, “Little Things,” also making the cut. Ella stays true to her core, diving headfirst into melodies about the deep feelings brought forth when in love. A follow-up to 2023’s “Heart On My Sleeve Deluxe,” Ella Mai once again brings the vibes and romance, perfect for the Valentine’s Day lead-up.
Back on the hip-hop side, Fredo Bang delivered a banger with his new single, “Baby Please.” The tune is another Valentine’s Day-inspired bop, blending elements of a love song with street grit that day-one Fredo Bang fans will appreciate.
