It looks like Nicki Minaj and her boyfriend are tying the knot!
Jumping the broom may be next on Nicki’s to-do list, as the Queens native recently opened up about how she and her boo Kenneth Petty applied for their marriage license. “We did get our marriage license,” Minaj, 36, said on her Queen Radio show. “I think I have what I was striving for, just happiness. It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there, I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.”
According to reports, the two visited the Beverly Hills Courthouse on Monday to pick up their marital documents. The two were seen waiting in line behind a window that read “marriage licenses and ceremony appts. ONLY.” Kenneth purchased the license and the couple left.
The two have been dating since December of 2018, according to Nicki’s Instagram. “He want me to be his wife- his MISSIS like SIPPI NOW,” the rapper wrote in the caption. Petty also previously showed the world his newest tattoo, which features Nicki’s birth name Onika. However, despite, Nicki’s happiness, many have come forward with scrutiny towards her relationship with Petty, who is registered as a sex offender in the state of New York and went to prison for manslaughter.
But, in response, Nicki took to Instagram to clear up some of the rumors. “He was 15; she was 16 … in a relationship. But go awf Internet. Y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life. Thank you boo,” she wrote. According to TMZ, the two have known each other since they were teens, and the she “is confident he’s matured” since then.
