Mega sportswear brand Nike is continuing to honor Kobe Bryant’s legacy with a new edition of the Kobe 5s next month.
The shoe will be purple and gold to represent the color of the Los Angeles Lakers uniform.
Bryant played for the Lakers his entire career starting in 1996 until his retirement in 2016.
The sneaker was originally released in 2010 when the Lakers feared the Celtics in the Finals.
The updated version of the sneaker will consist of “a purple upper with black and gold accents,” according to Sports Illustrated.
According to Footwear News, the new version of the Kobe 5 will be released at select retailers on Mar. 26, which will mark two months since his tragic passing.
The shoe has so far been worn by Lakers player Anthony Davis in the NBA All-Star Game as well as San Antonio Spurs player DeMar Rozan.
Bryant, his daughter Gianna Bryant and 7 other individuals lost their lives in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26.
A memorial was held on Feb. 24 to honor Bryant and GiGi at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
