Odell Beckham Jr. is as famous for drawing media attention as he is with his on-the-field talent. The new season is just starting, and he’s already received backlash and a lot of attention for his choice of flashy wrist wear. He sported a $350,000 watch during week one, and a $2 million Richard Mille watch during warmups in week two. Beckham told reporters that, ‘there’s always a method to the madness” and it seems like, in spite of the negative chatter, he knows exactly what he’s doing.
On Twitter, the Daniel Wellington company posted a statement announcing Beckham as their new brand “Icon.” Unlike the high-end brands he’s been wearing on, and off the field, the Daniel Wellington watches are incredibly affordable with a price point between $139 and $229. In spite of what seemed to be a good marketing ploy to introduce his new partnership, Beckham stated, ‘I’m going to leave it alone from now on. I’m strictly on football. Now you know, Daniel Wellington. That’s just the bottom line. I’m off it. I’m not talking about watches anymore. I’m done.’

The Cleveland Browns won their last game against the New York Jets 23-3 with Beckham making an 89-yard catch-and-run touchdown. With the watch controversy and antics behind him, it’s sure to be a good season for the athlete.
