The Oklahoma Sooners’ star running back, Joe Mixon, has been suspended for essentially being a jerk to a OU campus parking attendant.
According to reports, at around 9:30 am Tuesday, Mixon was given a parking citation. “He was frustrated, as most of us are when we get a ticket,” Mixon’s attorney Blake Johnson said. “He tore the ticket up in front of the parking attendant, and threw it on the ground.”
That parking attendant ended up filing a complaint with OUPD around 1:30 pm that day. Due to his complaint, Joe Mixon has been suspended for Thursday’s game against Iowa State.
“We are very confident that Joe did nothing criminal,” Johnson said.
“He’s been suspended for this Thursday’s game, and he understands and accepts that.”
“OU sets very high standards and they must be met by all of our student-athletes,” said OU Head Coach Bob Stoops. Mixon also issued a statement regarding his suspension. “I regret that I did not respond appropriately to parking attendants and understand and accept the consequences.”
This wouldn’t be the first time Mixon has faced suspension for bad behavior. Back in 2014 he missed the entire season after he punched a woman in the nose and broke several bones.
Do you think Mixon’s current punishment fit the “crime” or was suspension way too harsh of a sentence for tearing up a parking ticket?
